Doug McKinnon Smith, was born in Aberdeen, Scotland and educated at the Aberdeen Grammar School and Aberdeen University where he graduated MA (Hons). He was a SSRC Postgraduate Scholar at the Strathclyde University Business School, Glasgow where he took his M.B.A.
He joined the UK’s largest agri, milling and baking group, Rank Hovis McDougall (RHM) PLC in 1969 rising to Group Marketing Manager at RHM Foods Ltd.. He was seconded to the group’s subsidiary, Cerebos (Africa) Ltd, as marketing director in 1975. Subsequently, he worked in corporate planning and marketing within Anglovaal Industries until setting up Interfusion in 1987. He has consulted in business planning, acquisition of grants and funding, market research, marketing planning, advertising and promotion to a wide range of companies both multi-national and local. He has been personally involved with all the NAMAC Trust and SEDA SMME clients that Interfusion has served. He is a former Transvaal Regional President and Board Director of Junior Chamber South Africa. He is Organist of St John’s Church in Sandton, Gauteng.
Shirley Valdal and Michelle Greyling B.A. have over thirty years experience in conducting and managing market research projects. They supervise all the research conducted on behalf of Interfusion’s clients.
Elsche Sion studied industrial design and fine arts before acquiring a Diploma in Fashion Design from the Pretoria Technicon. She worked at D’Arcy McManus Masius on large clients as the Potato Board and Dairy Maid before going off to find her own niche specialising in packaging and below-the-line promotional work for clients such as Nandos, KFC, Kellogs, Nestle, Nampak and Coca-Cola for which she won numerous Loerie and overseas awards.

Jeanette Smith is head of Interfusion Design and acts as the Interfusion’s Group’s Creative Director. She studied Graphic Design and Fine Art at UNISA and the University of Pretoria gaining experience in her advertising career with a number of agencies including D’Arcy McManus Masius, Lintas, McCann Ericson and Lynne Wood & Associates.. She has extensive experience in designing for clients across a wide range of industries.
